Yuxi Fm

Period:
Neoproterozoic

Age Interval:
late-Early Qingbaikouan (early Tonian), Qb (57)

Province:
Guangxi

Type Locality and Naming

Northern Guangxi. The Yuxi Fm was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Guangxi Bureau of Geology in 1968. The naming section is located in Yuxi Village, Huangjin, Luocheng County, Guangxi Zhuangzhu Zizhiqu (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region). The formation is the upper stratigraphic unit of the Sipu Gr.

Synonym: (鱼西组)

It is sandwiched locally with tuff in band shapes with oblique bedding in middle and lower parts. The formation is 1500 m thick.

Lithology Pattern:
Fine-grained sandstone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is in conformable contact with underlying Wentong Fm of the same Sipu Gr.

Upper contact

The top is unconformably overlapped by Baizhu Fm of the Danzhou Gr.

Regional extent

Northern Guangxi. It is distributed in Luocheng and Rongshui counties, northern Guangxi.
